GSI and NDC-GARBE Collaborate on Sustainable Green IT Cube Technology in the Digital Open Lab
NDC-GARBE 11/07/2023
Darmstadt | July 11, 2023 – GSI and NDC-GARBE have announced their collaboration through the Digital Open Lab to develop and commercialize the Green IT Cube technology. NDC-GARBE acquired the intellectual property (IP) and patents for constructing sustainable data centers based on the Cube concept developed by GSI and Goethe University Frankfurt back in 2020. Now, within the Digital Open Lab, we aim to drive the utilization and further enhancement of the energy-efficient cooling system.
The Green IT Cube’s Digital Open Lab provides a platform for research and development projects focused on sustainable data centers. Industrial partners are invited to join GSI and scientific institutions in exploring new technologies for energy-efficient computing and ultra-fast data processing, preparing them for practical implementation.
The Green IT Cube is an environmentally friendly high-performance computing data center featuring an innovative cooling system. By integrating efficient water cooling into the rack doors, it significantly reduces the energy required for cooling and operation. The concept has received multiple awards for its innovation and environmental friendliness.
The partnership between GSI Helmholtz and NDC-GARBE, along with the Digital Open Lab, paves the way for the development and commercialization of Green IT Cube technology, fostering innovation in the field of sustainable data centers.
